Omaha Hi-Low: General Summary

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha 8 or better) is often times viewed as one of the most complex but popular poker variations. It’s a game that, even more than normal Omaha poker, invites play from every level of players. This is the chief reason why a once irrelevant variation, has grown in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha/8 begins like a normal game of Omaha. Four cards are given out to each player. A sequence of betting follows where gamblers can wager, check, or fold. 3 cards are handed out, this is known as the flop. A further round of betting happens. After all the gamblers have either called or dropped out, a further card is flipped on the turn. Another sequence of wagering follows and then the river card is revealed. The entrants will need to put together the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is the point where a number of players often get baffled. Unlike Texas Holdem, in which the board can make up everyone’s hand, in Omaha Hi-Lo the player must utilize exactly three cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. No more, not a single card less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot can be won: the "higher hand" or the "low hand."
A high hand is just how it sounds. It’s the best hand out of every player’s, it doesn’t matter if it is a straight, flush, full house. It’s the identical approach in nearly all poker games.
A lower hand is more difficult, but really free’s up the action. When figuring out a low hand, straights and flushes don’t count. the lowest hand is the worst hand that can be put together, with the worst being A-2-3-4-5. Since straights and flushes do not count, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest value hand possible. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and below. The lower hand wins half of the pot, as just like the higher hand. When there is no lower hand available, the higher hand takes the whole pot.
It may seem complex at the start, after a few rounds you will be agile enough to pick up on the basic subtleties of the game simply enough. Seeing as you have people betting for the low and wagering for the high, and seeing as such a large number of cards are in play, Omaha 8 or better offers an exciting array of betting choices and because you have numerous individuals shooting for the high, and a few shooting for the low. If you enjoy a game with all kinds of outs and actions, it is not a waste of your time to play Omaha/8.
